Had six children: Michelle, Victoria, Devon, Matthew, Alexander and Campbell.
Stanley Kubrick earned his life-long respect by being his superior at chess while
they filmed "Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love
the Bomb
" (1964), as Scott was a notoriously skillful chess player.
(1971) Won a Best Actor in a Leading Role Oscar for: "Patton", but he refused to
accept the nomination and the award because he did not feel himself to be in any
competition with other actors. Frank McCarthy, the film's producer, accepted
the award on Scott's behalf at the ceremony, but returned it to
the Academy the next day in keeping with Scott's wishes.
